A huge congratulations to Crane Ward at Riverside Centre for their inspiring Inclusive Hair Care Project. Through dedication, compassion and teamwork, the ward recognised that patients with textured, curly and coily hair were not always able to access suitable hair care products and took action to make a difference.
By introducing appropriate hair care products and wide-toothed combs, the team has helped ensure that patients feel respected, included and cared for, while promoting dignity, equality and person-centred care.
The impact has been remarkable, with patients and families expressing appreciation for the change and staff reflecting on how small improvements can make a big difference to people's experience of care.
A member of the Crane Ward team said:
"This project started with listening to our patients and recognising that something as simple as having the right hair care products can make a huge difference to how valued, respected and included someone feels. We're incredibly proud of what we've achieved together as a team and grateful for the positive feedback from patients and families."
We are all in awe of the commitment, creativity and teamwork shown by Crane Ward in delivering this important improvement. Their work is a fantastic example of how listening to patients and embracing inclusive practice can lead to meaningful change for everyone.
