Colleagues from across the Trust came together to celebrate the success of the GO Gloves Off programme, recognising the positive impact it has had on clinical practice, sustainability and patient care.

The celebration event showcased the achievements of teams who have embraced the initiative, with colleagues sharing their experiences and the learning gained throughout the project. Representatives from Windsor Intermediate Care Unit (WICU) and Oaktree attended in person, providing valuable insight into how the programme has influenced day-to-day practice within their services.

While the reduction in unnecessary glove use has delivered significant environmental benefits, one of the programme's greatest successes has been the shift in culture and mindset among staff. Teams reported increased confidence in assessing risk, challenging established habits and making evidence-based decisions about when gloves are needed.

The event highlighted how understanding the reasons behind change can empower staff to adopt safer, more sustainable ways of working. What began as a focused improvement project has evolved into a wider culture change, supporting better outcomes for patients, staff and the environment.

A special thank you was given to everyone involved in the programme, whose dedication and commitment have helped drive its success across the Trust.

Particular recognition was paid to Clare Palmer, Infection Prevention Lead Nurse-Diggory Division whose enthusiasm and leadership in the early stages of the project helped lay the foundations for the initiative and its ongoing achievements.

The celebration served as a reminder that meaningful change happens when colleagues work together, share learning and remain committed to improving the way care is delivered.
