For You Made a Difference week, we're sharing positive news stories from across the Trust that have stemmed from listening to, and acting on patient and carer feedback.
Milton Keynes Perinatal Mental Health Service
Following anecdotal feedback from patients that highlighted the increased anxiety about having a second child and managing the transition to a larger family, Milton Keynes Perinatal Mental Health Team's Nursery Nurse and a Peer Support Worker collaborated in delivering a new group called 'Growing Your Family'
The group is tailored to support people who are either pregnant with their second baby or had recently welcomed their second child.
What was the outcome?
The group has created a safe and supportive environment where participants can share experiences, build confidence, and develop practical strategies for managing family life with two children.
It has been very positively received, with feedback indicating that it;
- helped reduce anxiety
- strengthen peer connections
- and increase confidence in parenting.
This initiative demonstrates Milton Keynes Perinatal Mental Health Team's commitment to listening to patients and using their experiences to shape responsive, meaningful support within our service.
